Amazing Diet Update!

It's been a while since I've updated about Leo's dietary changes, but I realize there is much to tell!

Leo's "Super Shakes" are still the primary source of nutrition, and although the recipe for such shakes hasn't altered much, the ingredients change from batch to batch.

In the juicer- Kale and apples are a staple, included in every veggie juice blend. But now I've simplified a little, alternating between various greens, carrots and broccoli, as well as mandarin oranges and berries.

Lately, I've been using a greens mix: collard greens, turnip greens and mustard greens (all packaged together) and alternating between those and spinach.

If I juice carrots, I leave out the broccoli. If I juice broccoli, I leave out the carrots. This is my way of offering a variety of veggies to Leo.

In the blender- I add 2 boiled egg yolks for extra calories, 1 cup of the above mentioned veggie juice, 1/2 can of fruit (rinsed of it's syrup) 1 scoop of Garden Of Life Raw Meal Replacement, 2 different kinds of probiotics, 3 cups of coconut milk, and 3/4 of a banana.

Leo drinks approximately 32oz a day. Since Leo doesn't drink anything else, this is his go-to refreshment on a hot day, so sometimes he drinks a little more.

His Diet

He still eats donuts, popcorn, oreo minnies and salsberry steaks, however- his appetite has more than doubled since we began holistic treatments! Seriously, the boy eats constantly!! And recently, he has begn accepting Gluten Free Tortilla Chips!!
This is a HUGE development!

Whenever we attempt to give him something "new", we never know if he will try it or not. It's a gamble we nearly always lose at. But there are times, when he is offered something just for the sake of trial, that should he actually try it, it's not exactly on my preferred food list.
Example: Sometimes Daddy offers him candy. I am always thankful he does NOT try it, as it is something that I would not want to become another item on his very selective menu.

So when he tried the Gluten Free Tortilla Chips and liked them, imagine my relief!! Because that is something he can add to his daily munching!

The Result

For those you who are unfamiliar with the W.I.C. program, it is a governmental funded program for low income Women, Infants and Children that provide nutritional support and food through a voucher program. Now, I have contacted this program over the "approved food" list they provide because their list is not autism-diet-friendly. However, that got me no where.

None the less, this program provides milk, eggs, cheese, bread, cereal and other various items deemed "acceptable", none of which Leo will eat. The weight and growth of the children who are members of this program are monitored every month.

For more than 6 months, Leo plateaued at 42 lbs.
A couple of days ago, he weighed in at 45 lbs!!!
He's gaining weight!!
That is HUGE!

So This is the highlight of my diet update!

We kicked Pediasure to the curb, began making our own nutritional shakes, and followed our homeopath's directions with remedies to heal his gut. 6 months into the treatment, he is gaining weight and eating Gluten Free Chips.

Can't wait to see what happens next!!
